I am actually waiting in The Drs office now to be seen. I had my anatomy ultrasound. He is still a he. He looked great and everything was going well until they compared the measurements of his head to his arm bone and to his leg bone. He has a bigger than normal head and smaller in comparison leg and arm bones. This increases his risk of Down syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities. So I had the materniti21 test done. I am frwaking out a bit. Not because of the fear of DS but because it could be a trisomy issue and that would just be so hard to accept.

So scary! Sending many positive thoughts to you and your little babe.
I am certainly no expert but I do think that if that is the only unusual thing they detected then that is probably a positive thing.
Did any of your other kids have large heads? My boys have huge heads and when I had scans the techs always showed concern about how big they measured compared to the rest of their body but my dh's family all have big heads so the doctor told us not to worry as it was just a family trait and not in fact a marker of anything more serious.
I really hope your little one just has a big head like mine and nothing else going on!

Lurking...how much bigger? Like stated above, both my boys have huge heads haha. They always measure 95% head at the docs. Try to not freak yet! Fingers crossed!

Thanks ladies. My DH does have a big head and my boys do too. But they never said anything about their heads being big during ultrasounds. I am 18 weeks 3 days (I know when I Od. By temping and a ton of early ultrasounds) and his body is measuring 19 weeks with the head measuring in the 20th week. My DH thinks it's just a big head.. Nothing more. I want to think that but I am scared for him. He is our rainbow and I would hate to think that he won't live a full life. Like I said before we can handle ds. It's the other stuff that is my concern. I am praying that the materniti21 test comes back all negative and he just has a big head.

How much smaller are the arms/legs measuring? Wouldn't worry yet, though it is hard I know.

Sorry you have to deal with this. I know how stressful that is. I'm impressed by all you people who get in with a doctor immediately following the ultrasound. Last time, my son's nuchal fold was measuring larger than "normal" at the anatomy scan so we were sent to maternal fetal medicine, but that was a week later, and I didn't even find out for 2 days (more like a day and a half, I guess) because we had it done Wednesday evening, and then Thursday was Thanksgiving, and they called me Friday morning. That office did the Harmony test, and for that, and as far as I know, MaterniT21, there is not a time limit.

I am seen at a perinatology office because I am high risk and I think the Drs are on standby near the ultrasound room in their office to look for issues. That's why I was seen so quickly. It was nice to have a dr there but he was the one who went through all of the what ifs and those were scary. I just want to know that he is ok.
