I was snooping on the September DDC today lol and I saw that they are doing a birth bead swap, and I LOVE that idea!!! Does anybody know how to go about something like that? Would anybody here even be interested?

I can't afford the gift swap things that are more traditional, so I don't get to participate, but something like this I would think would cost a lot less, and I'd be able to do it! Anybody want to do one?

I saw it a while back when I was lurking in there and I like the idea, too.

I wouldn't participate because it's personally not for me, but when I was part of the May 2013 DDC they talked about doing it and almost everyone signed up. I'm pretty sure they went through with it too. I think it'd be great for the people that are into that type of thing. Even though it's not for me, I thought it was a great idea.

I was lurking and saw it too, but what exactly are birth beads? I have never heard of it!

I like this description the best: What to Expect Groups

That's better than I could explain it really. It's a sweet reminder during labor that your friends (and/or family) are there with you in spirit and you aren't alone.

I've never heard of it, but it sounds both inexpensive and fun. I would participate as long as it's not too costly

Would anybody like to organize one? I have no idea what to do to put together a swap, and with moving I'd be afraid I wouldn't do a very good job /: I really wanna do it though!!

I am willing to volunteer to take the organizing of this on, as long as everyone doesn't mind that I never heard of this before and I will be learning as I go. I'll probably also need to ask for advise along the way.

I wouldn't know how to coordinate this either. My first thought would be to contact the person doing it in the September DDC and find out how they did it.

We did one before basically everyone buys a lot of one bead (one for each person and they mail it to the "host" by the deadline who makes bracelets with one of each bead and sends them back (theoretically) when we did it the host decided it was to much and was supposed to mail beads back but some people never got their beads back and not everyone sent beads in either and it was just a mess.

I saw it in September, but didn't really understand what it was. You'd think with this being my 6th, I might have heard of this by now. I would potentially be interested, but I don't want to be responsible for heading it up!!

If I commit to it I will definitely follow through with it, even if I do find it too much. It looks like the number of us going in on it will not be too tough to manage.
