Matilda

Mathilda

Mathilde

I am thinking I might like the Mathilde version best but then again, I could just be a hormonal, indecisive woman. DH says he doesn't care how we spell it.

Mom to 4 beautiful kids! 3 on Earth and 1 in heaven. Our little girl, Matilda Hope had Down Syndrome. She was born with TMD, a disease that is like leukemia. She fought that and beat it. Then, she had liver failure. She beat that, too. On October 17, 2014 she had NEC, necrotizing enterocolitis. My baby went to Heaven on October 19, 2014. She lived exactly one month.

I like names that are spelled a bit differently so I like Mathilda.

I've picked the name Elyana for my baby. The most common spelling is Eliana. That's too plain for me lol. Not a huge difference but I like the one that's less commonly used.

I really like Mathilde, but I think people might be unsure how to pronounce it. Personally I'd go for Matilda as it's a bit simpler, but still an unusual name.

That's kind of what I was thinking, too. If I saw Mathilde, I would pronounce it Ma-tild, not Ma-tilda.

I absolutely love the spelling Mathilde, I loved it the first time I every saw it! This was the spelling that was the spelling that Heath Ledger and his SO used for their little girl.

I completely forgot that this is her name! I really do like this spelling a lot, I'm just considering, like others have said, the tendency to not pronounce it correctly...saying Matild and not Matilda but, that's easy and there are PLENTY of kids with odd names that get mispronounced or misspelled. Hell, I get asked all the time how to spell AMY. So, we'll see....

I personally think that Mathilda would be my choice. I don't think this is a different spelling, and may be closer to the original origin of the name.

I like Mathilde as well it would be pronounced with a De sound now a Da sound though.
