Has anyone had a photographer at their birth before?

I managed to score one - for free! There's a local photographer who said she really wants to take her photography business into the labour and birth way but that she has never done a birth session before so she would be offering it to me for free! I am SO excited! Has anyone else done this? Or is anyone else doing it this time?

I am doing it this time!! I did it last time, but it didn't end up very well. Long story short, everything was fabulous, until I never received my pictures. This time around I'm using an experienced photographer that has a great reputation, instead of a family friend who is an apprentice. I am super excited though!!! I can't wait to see what she catches!!

Nope. But I am having a C-sections so if I have to give up pictures to have my husband with me it's not even a question!

Oh, absolutely. I would take my husband over a photographer for a c-section as well! If you and your husband wanted, he can still take pictures in the OR. This is one my husband got (warning - may be more than some want to see)

I was going to have a friend who is a photographer and dad do it. I didn't want crotch shots, but just pictures as soon as she was out. BUT, my hospital is ridiculous. You are allowed to have 3 labour support people, but read the fine print and you can only have one person in there are a time! So stupid. So I won't be having one and I'm not sure if we'll get pictures right away because DF will probably not have his mind on taking pictures.

I am pretty sure that I am only allowed 3 people in the room with me. I will have 2 midwives with me and my husband/MIL will probably cycle out, so no professional photographer for me. It wasn't a high priority for me, anyway.

I don't want any photos of the birth happening (I am a tad squeamish so I don't think I would enjoy seeing that), but I would like a handful of baby right after he makes his debut, and the first time hubby and I get to hold him Hopefully I can convince someone who is present to take those photos for me. I'm not concerned with having professional photos done, though.

My DH and nurses always take pics during my csection but not a true pbotographer. My 2 super close friends are both photographers so I've got that covered lol. Great score on the free session!!

I had a photographer last time and the photos came out amazing! I got graphic ones for my own personal reference but she put together an amazing slideshow. I'll post a link later from my iPad. I'm using one this time too, but she's a friend who has a very successful birth photography business.

Thanks for sharing, that was wonderful!

I won't have birth photography. I am going to borrow a good camera so we can take pictures once the baby is born and such.

That. Was. Beautiful. My son watched it with me and he was so into it. When baby was crying he got all concerned and kept saying "baby is sad! Oh no! Baby is sad!!" And then my hormones made me cry and he was even more confused lol.
