My tattoo artist would be very depressed if he read this… but I wouldn’t drive for him. He’s good, but not extraordinary.

I drove 2000 miles last summer to get one. Granted we were on vacation to see our families but my left arm will only be done by him!

My guy just moved down to Seattle and its a 45-60min drive. I would do it though I really love his work and I wouldn't trust someone else to finish my arm.

My artist is now two hours away....I moved two weeks ago. BUT my family lives up there so we will be going back for sure. She will be adding more to my right arm and doing my left arm for sure.

The artist my husband and I see is a solid hour away in good traffic. He is very worth it, especially because he specializes in celtic knotwork. We would probably drive further than that for him.

When I lived in Oklahoma, I drove to Arkansas for my tattoos. Now I've moved back to Canada and my artist moved to another state (can't remember at this time). I would love to go back to him to get another piece done, but it's just too much added expense.

I have one more piece that I really want to get done, but have heard so many different conflicting things about the artists in my city, I don't know what to do. Might wait for the annual tat. convention and book an appt with someone there ... though the idea of getting one done with everyone watching gives me the jeebies since I'm a crier during the process (well, bawled during my calf tat, laughed my rear off and made funny faces during my more private tat...the next one will be on my shoulder blade/back so I'm expecting that to be like the calf one)

OK I'm totally a lurker here but I just wanted to add, that I just got a tat on my right shoulder blade/back and it was far less painfull than my calf one. if that makes you feel better
