I'm going to a baseball game April 26th, in which I will be 10weeks pregnant.

I really don't want to tell people at work until I'm 12 weeks along. But I'm a terrible liar.

Here is the thing - my BIL who works with me (and knows) bought DH these tickets for his birthday - they are patio party tickets - which means, we arrive 90 minutes before the game, and start drinking/eating all we want. It goes 30 minutes into the game - and then we go up to our seats to watch it. Several people from work are attending as well... Including a peer of mine who is known for grabbing beers and handing them out to people.

So - should I just take a beer and pretend drink it (have DH take sips here and there) - or should i just fess up since its only 2 weeks? WWYD???

I will be driving - but that doesn't mean I couldnt' have a couple in the beginning of the game - ya know?

Do they know you have been TTC? If so, decline due to fertility treatments. Or say you are on Flagyl (an antibiotic) and you can't have alcohol or it will make you extremely sick with nausea and diarrhea (if they know anything about it, they will know its true. )

Ohh thats tough.

I'd say if you can tell them without the whole world knowing, then I would go that route. If you can just play it off as if nothing is going on, see if anyone asks. You never know..... maybe they will just shrug it off. If they do ask, say yes, I'm pregnant......but we haven't made the big announcement yet so keep it hush hush

I think it'd be harder for me since I am in such a small community- everyone knows everyone- and word spreads like a wildfire.

Good luck!

Just decline politely. It's really no one's business why you don't want a beer. "No thanks" "Awww, just have one!" "I don't feel like drinking today." and leave it at that. Drives me nuts when people push alcohol on other people!!!

I know a recovering alcoholic who has never made his alcohol issue public, and people are all up his butt all the time to drink. Now he just says "Everyone gets a certain number of drinks in their lives, I've already had all of mine." It gets the point across pretty well.

Don't tell people you're pregnant if you're not ready to. That's not fair to you or your partner.

Thats a good one.

Both my parents were alcoholics... and its amazing how many people push them to drink. Obviously they don't know they were alcoholics, but I like that response. Very to the point!

Since I've gotten pregnant, I have had 2 bar crawls, DH's 30th birthday party, and a bachelorette party. I have done one of three things: (1) take the beer, and pretend to sip, then trade it out with DH secretly, (2) bring O'douls and secretly put it in a cup and then just sip on 1 can all day (prob can't bring your own beer to baseball), or (3) bring a full length koozie that covers the can so people don't know what I am drinking. The reason I did this is b\c people would know something was up if I did not have at least 1 or 2 beers at a social gathering.

Good luck! It's totally up to you what you want to do. Or you could always go with the "I"m not allowed to have carbs" argument!

Its not as simple as me just saying "no thanks" that's for sure! I'm a social drinker - and being out without my son - they would know something is up if I didn't have a drink. I may just take the drink if someone brings it to me, and fake sip on it and trade with DH.

Antibiotics are a good idea too! What would I be on antibiotics for ir I wasn't recently sick? (these people see me daily!)

I'm telling you - I'm a bad liar - really bad.

UTI. Urinary tract infection. Or infected bug/spider bite in a 'delicate' area that you don't wish to share?

Infected cyst in your arm pit...? That's very common! Not many people with admit to it, but its very common!

I just survived a bachelorette party with the help of my BFF who knows I'm expecting. She's a freaking amazing help! She was in charge of Jello shots. The orange ones were the ones without alcohol. She was also the one who brought along the drinks for her and I. They make their own beer and root beer, but it's all in beer bottles. The gold caps were root beer, the silver caps beer. No one suspected a thing! lol It was quite an intricate plan though, but since it was mostly close friends in attendance they would have suspected something for sure...

LOL! I could say UTI - but I don't think I could tell my co-workers that I have a spiderbite down by my lady parts - (if that is what you meant)!!

Oh - someone asked me if they knew I was TTC - no, not officially. However, I lost a baby at 22 weeks a couple years ago - and I would think that people would realize that I wanted another baby, and that it is a possibility for me - ya know? Or do I just think too much? People probably won't even give a crip!

Haha, if you did tell them you had a spider bite (on your rear or inner upper thigh, or your lady bits or BB), I bet they would shut RIGHT up on asking! You could also go with ear infection...?

ndnrussell - LMAO! That was pretty extreme!

How about "no thanks, still hungover from last night" (though I stand by my earlier post, it's no ones business... Not that they don't MAKE it their business. Sooooo annoying.

Do they serve mixed drinks? You could always get a sprite and cranberry, no one would know the difference

Just pretend to nurse a beer then put it down and be like "oh man which one is mine? Can't this one it's too full"

Or you could just have DH get you a yard glass full of a slurpee It will look like a yummy frozen drink. Does your ballpark sell those? It would last you all night.

Omg. I seriously laughed at the spider bite in the hoo-haw! HAHAHAAA!!! That'd shut them up.

I don't think I would pretend to drink. When they do find out you are pregnant in the coming weeks they're going to be like "omgoshhhhh! She was just out drinking!" LOL!! I would say you are going to be DD for the night and hubby can booze it up for his birthday! ..or the ear infection and antibiotics thing would work too.. When I went out with a group to bar hop on St. Patrick's Day it was going well for a while.... then they kept ordering more green beer... more shots.. more green jello shots... back to beer.... Omg. My poor husband. He was having to drink all of his AND MINE. By midnight he was done. My brother bought us another round of shots and it was a jagerbomb. One extra beer glass and one extra shot.. everyone does them all at once... Ughhhhhhhhh. I was like "no guys... I really can't." My SIL reeeeeeally loud says "What are you with child or something?!" Haha!! & I didn't want to outright lie. Plus they were drunk. Screw it. YESSSS. I am. Don't tell Mom yet.

In the patio - they only have beer, wine, and softdrinks.... so the yard of slurpee wouldn't work unfortunately!

I never thought about if I pretend to drink they will think I was boozing it up with a baby on board - but, I'm not sure I'd care at that point? I'm more concerned about them going back to the office and sharing my news, than them thinking I'd intentionally drink while pregnant.

I'll just let things go as they are - take drinks when people bring them to me - set them down on the table, and just not drink them. I'll stuff my face with food that way I can't drink at the same time - lol. Maybe no one will notice. Once I'm at the game - it is concluded that I've had too much to drink - and we don't want to spend any more money on expensive beers - so, I"m in the clear

Pickles do sound good right about now!

So - I double thought this. Perhaps I'll just bath in beer - that way, when I smell like it - they will know I"ve had enough and leave me alone.

My excuse has been that I gave up drinking for Lent (even though I'm not very religious). Once this weekend hits I'll be saying I'm on a new allergy med (I get terrible allergies) so I still can't drink.
