I am completely obsessed with The Baby Story on TLC. The Baby Story, Making Room for Multiples, anything baby! And I cry during almost every episode! Anyone else?

I'm with ya! I love all those shows. I tell myself I'm not going to cry, but as soon as the baby is born, the I remember that feeling when Calvin was born and it all comes rushing back and I burst into tears. I can't wait to do it again!

I get ticked off by them most of the time. I'm too emotional for that stuff right now.

I agree. The homebirth hippie in me gets really frustrated by the cookie-cutter labors. Pitocin, pitocin, pitocin.

I was induced with pitocin with my daughter 11 years ago. I was well past my due date and without signs she wanted to come out. I didn't know pitocin was considered bad.

It's not that it's bad per say. It can be a useful tool if needed. But nowadays it is very overused, it's hard on you and the baby since its an artificial hormone. It causes hyper stimulation of the uterus a lot of times which leads to a lot of unnessecary c/s. It also begins the cascade of interventions. I obviously have made different birth choices than most of you but I know it's not for everyone. What I want is women to make informed choices, not do something just because someone in a white coat says to.

These shows aren't my thing either. I don't remember which one it was I've seen, but it was so SCARY. If I had seen those shows before actually having a baby myself, I would have been terrified.

Oh and the purple faced pushing plus every women is flat on their backs. Gravity works wonders for bringing a baby down.

Exactly this. I don't want anybody thinking I'm high and mighty about anything, in fact, I had pitocin with DD as well as an epidural. But that was a last resort, after two days of stalled labor. We still ended up with a c/s because she wouldn't budge. I just wish more women were aware of alternatives in labor.
