I rwad that we are not suppose to eat deli meat? Do you think that includes sandwich meats? And the deli cut ham? I don't by the ham directly from deli but It is in the sandwich meats. Just want to be safe.

It's cold deli meat you aren't supposed to have. It's fine if you heat it up because it kills any bacteria.

I mean like the sandwich meat. It's not out of the deli but it's like deli sliced ham and I make sandwiches with it so it,s cold.

Yeah, it includes everything--including the ham and stuff you can buy in packages to make sandwhiches at home, hot dogs, etc. You just have to heat it up for a few seconds in the microwave to kill the bacteria.

Your risk for listeria is very very low. There are like 2500 cases of it the whole united states with a population of 300 million so the risk is low especially because the meats are processed. I never knew about this until my 3rd pregnancy and read it on JM. If it sounds good and stays down I am all about it.

I'm pretty careful to heat it up, but most of the draw of a sandwich for me is BECAUSE it's cold. I'm only really cautious of it in the first trimester. I'm desperate for a cold sub!

I asked my ob and she specifically said packaged deli meats are ok but do not keep in fridge more than 3-5 days as well as fresh deli meats and just don't over do it. But my ob also ate sushi most her pregnancy

Thanks Bokkechick for my gorgeous siggy!!!!

My dr never said anything about it and since they gave me cold sandwiches in the hospital when I was pregnant, I never worried about it. I do have them toast my sandwich at Subway though. More because I like it warm though.
