Dr called this morning. Said blood work showed I'm anemic and insisted I keep taking my iron supplements. Also.she saidI had any abnormal pap smear. Only time I ever had one was at 6 weeks post baby after Aidan and it was scar tissue in my cervix from the delivery. Well last week the ER said I had yeast infections and UTI so I'm wondering if that's what it could be as Dr at ob office never said anything about either infection. Hmmm.they can't do anything until my 12 week appt and if she sees anything abnormal they'll do small biopsy but said they truly can't do anything into after baby is born.

Anyone have any abnormal pap smear? Is it really something to freak out over?

I have, but not while pregnant. The Dr had to go and remove the abnormal cells.

I had an abnormal pap when I was pregnant with DD and had to get a colposcopy. They would've done a biopsy but I was pregnant so I was supposed to get it checked out after she was born. But I bled for 8 weeks after she was born and then I lost my insurance, so I never did anything about it. They told me it was really common and likely to go away on its own, and I'm really hoping that's the case. I'll find out when I go for my appointment on the 19th. Don't worry, just make sure you get checked out after delivery.

Well my cousin is a nurse and she said the abnormal pap was most likely the cause of the uti as well as the yeast infection as any infection can cause any abnormal pap. She also said sex before a pap can cause it as well....interesting!! Let's just keep hoping it's nothing but I'm not gonna stress over it

I've had two abnormal paps, but not while pregnant. They weren't consecutive paps so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Like your cousin said, just about anything can make a pap come back abnormal.

Lots of things make Paps "abnormal', including infection and pregnancy. It will likely resolve on it's own. And if it doesn't, you've got plenty of time after delivery to get it taken care of.

I was just about to say I've had an abnormal pap but only because we had sex before my appointment. Like...literally an hour before my appointment. I had no idea that it could cause that. Doctor was pretty honest when taking the sample that it would probably come back abnormal. LOL She told me next time no sex three days before a pap.

I've had an abnormal and I had to have few procedures done to take care of it. As far as the anemia I recommend floradix. It's an awesome liquid supplement that has other vitamins that help your body absorb the iron. Many people who have low iron levels Re low in other vitamins as well which is needed to absorb iron. Floradix is also non contisptating.
