My question is just that! Is there a big difference in the amount of weight that is dropped in the 6 weeks or so post baby between a c-section and vaginal birth?
What's your experience?

I've never had a c/s but a c/s is major abdominal surgery and I know some people heal faster than others which also runs true for vaginal births. With a c/s though there tends to be a longer recovery time. With a longer recovery time it means the longer time you are down before you can begin loosing weight. Breastfeeding though will also aide in weight loss.

In the 5 days after my c/s I lost 30 pounds LOL! I think its because I was no longer pregnant and they have you on a liquid diet until your intestines start working again (after all the anestesia)

I left the hospital at 163 lbs and had a c-section. By 12 weeks postpartum I was down to 147, just 7 lbs over my pre-pregnant weight. By 16 weeks I was down to 140 and continued to drop down to 122 by 6 months.

It has more to do with your det and exercise than your method of delivery. Breastfeeding also plays a huge role. My little piggy drank 32-38 oz of breast milk a day.

I haven't had a c-section, but weightloss has been different with every one of my pregnancies and I breastfed all of them. One baby, I left the hospital weighing more than when I went in. My 6th I never lost the weight until having my 7th. I don't know what I did differently though.

It also depends on how in shape you were before you got pregnant. I've never been any shape but round prior to my first and had a c-section. My tummy STILL isn't back to what it was before I had DS and I'm pregnant again (obviously) so theres not a lot of hope there. haha I need to get my muscles to go back to a normal place if that makes sense. My weight went down but my shape never went back to normal at all.

I haven't had a c/s but I did breastfeeding both my kiddos. With both, I dropped 20-25lbs by the 6 week checkup. I think breastfeeding and the shape you were in before play a bigger role in that.
