I feel so nauseated today. Almost to the point it was difficult to work. I called my ob because I was really nauseous yesterday too and figured that it'd probably reach unbearable by the weekend and maybe they could call me in some zofran or phenergan to help. When I called, they said they don't want patients to take anything for nausea until after 12 weeks and basically to tough it out. Maybe I live under a rock but I'd never heard that - the girls at work were surprised too. I'm a adult and can handle it, I just thought if it was possible to not feel like chucking everywhere, that'd be great.
I'll be asking for zofran when I go in on the 27th... I can barely function right now and it's really not fair to my other kiddos. My doc will give it for severe nausea and vomiting if you are vomiting more than 6 times a day, especially in the first trimester. My doc actually gave me zofran during labor with DS3.
i got it at 10ish weeks in my last pregnancy, i couldnt keep anything down and had lost about 10lbs at that point. i have a new dr this time and my first appt isnt til almost 8 weeks but if my morning sickness is bad again i hope theyll prescribe zofran, at least based on my history.
I would push for the Zofran and/or Phenergan. My OB actually prescribed me Zofran before I got my BFP so I would have it on hand if needed. The Zofran didn't end up really helping my nausea but I switched to Phenergan about 4 weeks ago and I like that so much better! Not taking nearly as much as I was taking in the first tri but I still take it at night before bed ...
I'm sure each OB see medications differently than other's so I don't think there is no rule of thumb when it comes to prescribing meds. If you push enough, you'll get it.
