Hi folks. This is my first pregnancy and I'm currently 5w3d and for the past week I've been nauseous all day, headachy, tired, and bloated and I'm beginning to wonder whether I can handle another week of this, let alone 8 more months of whatever pregnancy throws at me. I have zero interest in food and have to make myself eat, but nothing tastes good. I used to love cooking and eating. My general crappy feeling is affecting my job. I'm used to working long days and being quite productive with my time (I'm a college professor). Now it's a real struggle to make it through a 50min lecture and meetings with my grad students and if I think too hard I start to feel really sick. Tell me there's hope, or it's worth it, or something... I could use some encouraging words. Or at least some strategies for getting through the first trimester.

Hugs! It's so worth it when you hold you sweet baby! And for most people it gets better although sometimes it isn't until the 2nd trimester. Drink a lot of water all day and try to at least sit whenever possible and if you're able to get a nap in at anytime try to. Pretzels and crackers can help when you don't feel li,seating anything since ey're more bland. I hope you feel better!

Welcome, and I hope you'll get over the nausea, etc, quickly. I think last time around I was a week or two into the second trimester before I felt better. Ginger is supposed to help with nausea - I like ginger tea. Frequent nibbling can help too. Good luck!

Hugs! I know exactly how you feel. When I was pregnant with DD I was soooo sick and miserable for almost 20 weeks. It was horrible b/c I couldn't eat and threw up all the time and was stuck alone at home. But it does end and you WILL feel better again. Ask you DR. for Zofran or Phenegran if you are loosing weight and drink drink drink. I quit eating and drinking and ended up in the hospital for fluids. If you get dehydrated it just make it even worse. It will pass try to just get by now.
Thank you *Kiliki* for my beautiful siggy!

i know exactly how you feel. every day i wonder why i wanted to do this again and whether i can survive. but, i've done this before. and it does get better. for me, it's around 15 weeks that the nausea lets up. i'm on zofran this time, and it's the only way i can function at work.

I feel your pain. First time mom. Last time mom. No just kidding... but I do joke with my hubby that I'm never doing this again. I'll never underestimate a pregnant woman again!

This is my first also, and I'm about 6 weeks days and I feel awful too. I thought the other day that maybe we only need 1 baby - lol

I'm just hoping that it eases up and am going to try and keep myself preoccupied.

Thanks for the encouraging words! It's nice to know there are other people out there who understand. It's hard when you can't talk about it.

The first trimester is kind of like the first few months of a newborn - the days are looong, but the months are short. It is hard to get through, but when you look back it passes quickly. I tried the sea bands on my wrist, frequent nibbling, lots of naps. Nothing is great but some of it helps a little. If you don't eat anything, you'll feel worse though.
