He's so funny- I don't remember him being so crazy with DD.

Anyhow, he wants me to call and tell the OB/triage nurse whats going on. I think I'm just going thru the early stages of labor and the more of this I do at home, the less time I have to spend at the hospital. Here's what's going on:

*Contractions (some BH but more real ones within the past few days) but definitely not consistent. Sometimes 10 minutes apart, sometimes 7, sometimes 5, but nothing closer than that.

* Increased discharge with brown blood. This just started lastnight.

* Menstrual-like cramps

* Horrible acid reflux, like to the point where I want to vomit. Even water burns.

When I was at my appointment last week I was 2 cm dilated and 40% effaced and his head was at station -1.

I really don't think it's time to call the doc, but I'll do it to appease him. What would you do?

My Dr told me today to always call if there was ANY doubt at all. So I would probably call. Especially since you are just 35 weeks.

I think you should call, but only because you aren't considered full term yet. I wouldn't want to risk the baby being born too pre-maturily and needing NICU care.

Having no experience being a FTM, I will probably call the doc the minute I get my first real ctx

However, it sounds to me like you know your body, and that you sense you aren't ready for a hospital visit just yet. While it doesn't hurt to call, I wouldn't do more than that if you think you are just in early labor.

Just my two cents, but do whatever makes you comfortable!

It doesn't hurt to call the doctor. It's good to keep them informed about things so that just in case things start-progressing-really-fast(!) that they have a heads up and just know whats going on. If you call, I would just stress to them, that you are not concerned at all, but that you just wanted to give them a heads up and give your husband some peace of mind.
Good luck!

At 35 weeks, I would call. If you were term, I would say it's more of a judgement call, but since you are still a little early, it's better safe than sorry.

It sounds like you very well could be in the early stages of labor! KUP!

I think it's up to you as you know your body best. If you feel that the baby will be coming soon then maybe you should call to see what they want you to do since you aren't full term. They may want to stop your labor and try to get you further along to avoid the NICU.

Oh, at 35 weeks, with ALL those symptoms, I would call. It may be nothing, but you don't want to take a chance, either!

Oh yeah I'd call if I were early like that. If you were further along I'd say no way, wait it out as long as you can...

How far were you when DD came?

I'd give a call just to give your husband some peace of mind.
Maybe our babies will share a bday? I'll be delivering tomorrow!

Good luck and KUP

The only reason I would go ahead and call / go in is because you are only 35 weeks. If they can do something to stop your contractions I would think that would be best for another week or two. It's the brown blood that makes me think you are probably progressing and you will eventually reach a point of no return.

Thanks ladies. I guess I will call after the office opens from lunch.

I was 36 weeks when I had DD so maybe that's why I'm not overly anxious. She was 7 lbs and required no NICU or extra care. My next appointment isn't till 12-12-12 ()

In a way I would be worried if he came tomorrow of all days. Tomorrow would have been my brother-in-law's 34th birthday. He committed suicide this June and DH & his family is already dreading coping with tomorrow.
