I have 2 dogs, a Westie and a Lab...My westie isn't supposed to shed, but he sheds the labs hair!!! The lab sheds so bad, we get what I call tumbleweeds. I do use one of those roomba vaccuums, and they help to keep the fur down. I am on my 4th baby and don't really put the baby anywhere near the floor. without laying down a blanket first. Other than that it's not an issue. I wouldn't worry too much, but the roomba is pretty awesome for maintaining the fur!

I feel your pain. I have two black labs and our back yard is entirely orange clay. Every single thing I own is covered in black dog hair and orange clay. I had to get rid of my carpet and get laminate wood (who puts in white carpet in a place where the soil is dusty and orange?!). It's helped, but year... it drives me insane.

They both shed gobs of hair. There's really nothing I can do about it, so I've just learned to ignore it and buy dark clothes. I keep threatening to shave them, but you can't shave labs, so they just look at me like I've lost my mind and go about their business.

The baby is also covered in orange clay and black dog fur but it doesn't seem to bother him at all. I lint roller him before we go out.

We have a cat and a 75lb boxer/pitbull mix. We are going to put a screen door on babys room but that'll probably be the only room in the house that won't be full of hair. Cat sheds tons and I'm not sure how dog manages to lose so much hair, he has none as it is. You could try the play mat idea burt just being in the house it will have hair on it. Don't worry too much about the germs either. As long as pets aren't going to the bathroom in the house there's not much to worry about. Kids need exposure so their bodies learn to fight disease.
