Since we're getting closer and closer to that baby can hear sounds outside the womb stage ... does anyone plan to start (if you haven't already) playing music for baby? And if so, what will baby be listening to? What about labor? Will you use music?

I'm a complete music nerd, thanks to my parents, and so I listen to pretty much anything. I don't have a set playlist or anything like that, but there's almost always music on in our house. Anything from classic rock to pop to country ... just a little bit of everything. I've started looking for songs to make a playlist while I'm in labor. I'm not sure what kind of music I plan to use yet, but it helps me keep my mind off things so music in labor is a must for me!

I had my ipod with me when I was in labour with DD. My doula wanted me to listen to the hypnobirthing thing, and the music that went along with it but it was so calming that it was actually irritating me. I ended up listening to really random rock and hip hop that put me in a good mood and eventually just flung the ipod out the window all together.

I listen to music really loud in the car and baby seems to particularly respond to anything with a heavy bass

I never have in the past. But I want a labor playlist this time. I meant to make one the last time and forgot.

I had a playlist last time on my iPod and I also ended up just throwing that thing aside, it was so annoying!!! I think besides soothing tactile things like water in the shower, I wanted a very low sensory input type environment, no talking or music or lights or smells or anything, just leave me the heck alone, I'm trying to concentrate

DH and I are both music fanatics...we also listen to everything and I will be making a labor playlist for sure. And DH loves to play music for baby. He did for DD when I was pregnant with her. And she also preferred more bass...still does lol

Baby just listens to what I'm listening to in the car- bob marley, classic rock, 90's alternative, random hip hop, pretty much anything but country. I have been compiling a playlist for labor already. Just tons of songs that get the "ooh turn that up" reaction from me.
