Today we went to visit my grandmother so we were in the car for a long time. We had time to talk about names. We have been putting it off until we know the gender but started talking about it for fun.

We have always liked the name Harper but I think we decided we didn't love it. I started throwing names out and discussing them. I mentioned the name Evelyn and dh really liked it and it got me excited. My daughter's name is Madelyn so it goes with it. Do you think it goes with it too much? I had always dismissed Evelyn because someone on my fb has a daughter named Madelyn (they spell it some other way though) and Evelyn. My dh made me realize that it was dumb to dismiss it because of that because I seriously do not even know these people, I went to high school with them and have not seen them in like 10 years. haha! I think that the nickname Evie is so cute, I am not sure how to spell it. I also like how my daughter has a nickname so if it's a girl I feel like she should have a nickname, I'm not sure why?

For a boy we really like the name Alden (all-den). There is a little boy at Maddie's school named that and I have loved it since I heard it. I do not know of anyone else named that.

I like both Evelyn and Aidan. Both nice names. Evelyn is also not a name that is super common or trendy, but is very classic. I agree that Evie is an adorable nick name.

Thank you! It's actually ALden not Aiden, have you ever heard that name before?

I love Alden! To me it is a very underused old fashioned name. So many older names are making a comeback and this is one that remains less common.

Personally I would not have Evelyn with Madelyn, they are just too similar, but I like my kids names to be completely different. Evelyn is a nice name, though.

Alden is cute but sounds like "all done" in my accent.
