So on Wednesday night when I used the restroom I had a lot of blood and clotting out of the blue, so I went to the er and they found a "blood clot" when they did the vaginal ultrasound. The baby looked fine and placenta was good but I am very freaked out. They just told me that they think it will pass and to expect more bleeding and cramping. Well I was spotting for a day or two afterwards and mild cramping but then the bleeding just stopped. The dr did say that it could get worse. Has anyone had any experience with this???
Hi there! Lurking from May DDC: Where did they say the blood clot was? I have a subchorionic hematoma, which is a blood clot between the layers of the placenta. I had massive bleeding back in November and thought I was miscarrying. Turns out, there was a tiny tear in the placenta that caused a big pool of blood that burst. Scared the living !@#$ outta me. Mine was HUUUGE and for a while there, it was kinda touch and go, but I'm still preggo... baby is doing great.
Have you called your OB this morning to get in to have a more detailed ultrasound? If it is an SCH, just expect to be put on modified bed rest and pelvic rest until it either resolves itself, bleeds out, or until they say it's safe for you to resume normal activity. I've been on modified bed rest for about 6 weeks now and I get to see a perinatologist every so often so they can monitor what's going on.
PM me if that's what it is and I can direct you to some not-so-horrifying websites as opposed to what usually pops up in google searches.
Thanks Ladies ...Purr thanks so much for that information. They did not indicate where it was but it appeared during the vaginal ultrasound. My Doctor does not seem very concerned and just said to "take it easy" until it passes...but you know how it is when you are pregnant! I am going to call her today just so I can speak to her a little further. I have another ultrasound scheduled for next week.
I also have a subchorionic hematoma. I had a really big bleed at 10 weeks and thought I was losing the baby. The u/s showed a large active bleed. The next week it was even bigger, so they sent me to Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist for a level II u/s. I was never put on bed rest (doctors have mixed opinions on this and I wish mine had put me on bed rest) but I did have to stop all exercise, no lifting over 10 lbs, and was put on pelvic rest until a week of no bleeding/spotting. I bled for a month. It's been nearly a month of no spotting, so I am hopeful that I can lift restrictions. Just try to take it easy. Let others help whenever possible when it comes to lifting or strenuous activity. Keep yourself hydrated, and if you can lay on the couch do it
