I've been having lots of irregular contractions, sometimes painful, along with a sharp pinching in my cervix. I figured I *had* to have some progression and had my 37 week apt last night. My OB checked me for the first time and told me I'm 2cm dilated and my cervix is anterior with baby's head "right on it". He says he thinks I might deliver this week and actually wants me to come back tomorrow to see if I progressed much more. He took me out of work since my job is very strenuous, 12 hours on my feet, lots of bending, pushing/pulling, etc. I'm trying to take it easy as per his instruction to keep baby cooking until at least 38 weeks.

Since yesterday I'm having lots of pain in what I think must be my pubic bone when I stand up. Anyone else having this? I'm guessing it's baby moving into position. I hope he/she holds out a bit longer!

My baby's head is also very low and right on my cervix. I've been dilated to 2-3 cm for almost 3 weeks now and have been having contractions on and off and really awful pelvic pain -- whenever my guy is awake it seems! Anyway, as you can see I'm still pregnant . So it's possible you'll go soon, but definitely also possible it could be a couple of weeks. Have you thought about refusing a cervical check? I only say this because sometimes it can just irritate the cervix and cause more pain and contractions, so unless your OB has a particular reason for wanting to know if you've dilated more I would consider just asking him to wait until your next appointment. Just my two cents .

My pubic bone is in a lot of pain. I couldn't sleep lastnight because of it. I'm at my appointment now to get my group b done and to get checked. So we will see!

I'm not 100% sure of all of his reasons but I'm gestational diabetic for the second time and they don't want me going past my due date. He wants to induce sometime after 38 or 39 weeks if I don't go on my own. My OB's (there are 2 docs in the practice) aren't on over the weekend and I REALLY don't want some random "on call" doctor delivering me, which they're well aware of. DH and I both have known my doctors for years and I go to them based on their reputation and records so the thought of having someone else delivery me is not an option.

eta- I think his reasoning for having me come back in 2 days is to hlep see if I'm just going to "hang out" at 2cm or if things are moving along. Obviously not an exact science but I think he's trying to get a rough idea how things are moving.

My OB mentioned yesterday that all the dull aches and pains will soon be replaced with much sharper/shooting pains in that area. I have already had one day where that happened every time I moved or stood and it really stunk. No indication from her that it meant anything was necessarily imminent, KWIM?

Hang in there

My little girl uses mine as a punching bag at night. She takes my breath away with it almost every time. Sometimes I have the contractions but I haven't noticed any connection between her hitting me and the tightening. She is definitely lower than she was when I was last checked though. My 38 week appointment is Thursday so we'll see.

I've had that pubic pain for a good month now. Been having contractions on and off for a couple weeks. The pubic pain makes it nearly impossible for me to walk most days. Rolling over in bed or getting up puts me in tears. Unfortunately, it's all absolutely normal and really isn't indicative of when you'll go into labour. Hopefully when you go back to get checked, you haven't progressed much.
