It doesn't matter your reason. Some of us are formula feeding from the start, some of us have tried breastfeeding and just can't do it for one reason or another and some of us might even way overproduce and need to slow down production... whatever your reason, my mom found something SUPER helpful.
I'm straight formula feeding and my milk started coming in yesterday. Obviously, this leads to some serious discomfort and I'm desperate to stop production as fast as possible. I knew the old tricks about binding, cabbage leaves, and Benadryl and I know there's herbs that help so I started looking around to see what I could find. My mom came across something (and I'm terribly sorry I don't have a link. I try to always link my sources) that said jasmine tea works even better than the medications they give to stop/slow production! Jasmine tea! Available in your local grocery's tea isle! No going to specialty herb shops or ordering online. (I feel like I'm doing an infomercial.) So last night my roommate went to Kroger and picked up a box of organic jasmine tea for me and I drank 2 cups before bed. I fully expected to wake up even more swollen and hurting worse than yesterday but no! I'm still about as swollen and the pain is only slightly less than yesterday but the main thing is it didn't get worse! So I'm drinking more today.
The recommended dosage is 6 STRONG cups per day. The normal steep time for jasmine tea is about 3 minutes. I steep for closer to 10. I don't need sweetener in mine but I'm sure it's safe to use your chosen sweetening method (honey, sugar, stevia, etc.) if you don't like the normal flavour of jasmine.
So I just wanted to throw this on here to share my miracle tea. Even breastfeeding mommies could find this helpful when they get ready to wean.
