Until today I haven't bought so much as a sock for this baby. I've been researching for months trying to compare and contrast different products, balance out buying quality items without spending a fortune. Today I compiled a list of all the big-ticket items to show to DH, explained how I'd been reading reviews and online window shopping for months. He gave me the go-ahead to make the purchase! I bought the crib - one with an attached changing table to save space - and the crib mattress, a jogging stroller and matching car seat with an extra car seat base, a Pack n' Play for going to visit Grandma, and a baby swing - plug in, of course The only big item left to buy is the glider/recliner, but I need to go to a few stores to try them out. And the after that it's just bedding and clothes and diapers and whatnot. Small potatoes.

It's not practical to buy things here in Canada because the prices are sometimes twice as much as they are in the US. So I found everything I want on Amazon.com and had it all shipped to DH's mom's house in Ohio, and he'll be bringing it back later this month after he goes to visit. When we lived in AZ it seemed a lot easier to get nice baby items second hand for a decent price, but that's been proving harder here. Everything I've found on craigslist and kijiji (Canadian website similar to craigslist) has been overpriced for the manky condition they've been in. We're lucky to have someone close by in the US that we can have items shipped to.

I'm so excited go get all my new baby stuff! It'll be delivered and DH will be going to pick it up the weekend before my birthday so it's kind of like a big present for me!

That stinks that it's so much more expensive there. Glad you found a solution I know it feels good to be getting prepared.
