I have myself a little chunker!!!

When he was born he was 8 pounds, 19.5 inches. Within a week he lost over a pound because my milk hadn't come in. He now weighs 9 pounds, 15 ounces and is 21.5 inches long. His head is 15.16 inches - in the 88th percentile!!

The doc does believe he's got a bit of silent reflux, so hes now on zantac. Shes not worried about switching his formula, shes just having me feed him less more often and feed him practically straight up. If these things plus the meds don't work then she'll consider changing his formula.

So that reflux is pretty common? Is the 1lb gain an average? We won't have an appointment till 2 months so im interested in seeing what my chunker weighs.

From what our ped said it is pretty common. The valve at the top of the babys stomach is wide open til 4 months so acid can travel easily into their esophagus.

As for weight I'm not sure but his 9 lbs 15 oz is in the 56th percentile.

hmm interesting on the reflux. We feed Vivi almost sitting up anyway because we think it helps her so who knows! I hope it works for you guys.

Vivi had gained a lb in two weeks when she went to her 1 month apt! She and Max are about the same weight now! It's funny because you think they are so big and yet it's only like the 50 something percentile for weight! Who would have thought. As long as they are gaining though and the pediatrician is happy and baby seems happy than I am a happy mama!

Here's to a great apt and I hope things get better with the reflux

Yay for your chunker. Hopefully the reflux issues resolve themselves.
