I just had my baby shower and received 2 completely different types of monitors. One is a monitoring pad with a sound monitor and the other is a video monitor with a sound monitor. I think both have a temperature sensor. Now, I'm wondering if I should keep one or just return them both and get a sound monitor only kind. My question is what kinds of monitors are you using? What are your favorite types? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think it just depends on if you want to have video or not. I've heard both pros and cons about the video monitor, but I think if someone gave me one, I'd go with that one. But I also have never used either because I am a first-timer. lol. Maybe you could go online and look at the reviews for both types of monitors and see which people are liking the best.

Thanks to *Sharon* for my awesome siggy! My pregnancy blog

I was always torn on a video monitor. We had just a sound monitor, and I would wake up in the middle of the night and listen to hear her breath on it, so I'd imagine I'd be staring down the video monitor. I do think a video monitor is better once they're bigger and the possibility of them climbing out of their crib/getting into things gets greater. That being said, we've always used the sound ones and its worked good.

Ive only ever had the sound only one. But I only really ever heard my neighbour yelling at her kid on it so I just stopped using it. I lived in a small house though so I didnt really need it

we have an angel care in the nursery (sensor pad + sound) i really like it, keeps me sane when we do have baby sleep in the crib. We also have a video monitor in the older kids room (they are 16 months and 2.5) i also really like that for them, since they are bigger and do get out of their beds, its nice to keep an eye on them that way

We ended up getting the motorola video monitor. So far it seems to be working well, but we will see once the baby arrives. I do wish we would have gotten a monitor that included iphone software or capability so I could check up on the baby while I'm at work.
