Well I went to the doctor this morning for an ultrasound to make sure the pregnancy wasn't ectopic.
She checked everything, found a small cyst on my right ovary from when I ovulated, which she said is likely the cause of my small twinges of pain in my right side.
However...she said my gestational sac is so small that she can't even measure/date my pregnancy yet! She said it is likely that since this was only my second cycle off of birth control, that I had a late cycle and ovulated a lot later than I thought I did.
The gestational sac was only 2.6mm! It is, however, growing appropriately in my uterus and not in any wonky places, so that is good.
That being said, I have no idea how far along I am, when I would have possibly ovulated and/or conceived. I truly have no clue. I know the week before I THOUGHT I would get my period, I was having very sore breasts, felt flush like I was having a fever, and was having a full/crampy feeling like I usually do when I ovulate. That was around January 28-30 I guess. So I don't know. Maybe I'm right at 5 weeks?
I hope that I simply ovulated late, and that it's not something else (ie: pregnancy not developing properly, etc). Crossing my fingers that everything will be okay. I guess I just added another couple weeks worth of worrying to my schedule.
I don't know right now - all of the doctors were out of the office this morning (at the hospital delivering babies!), so the ultrasound tech was going to call me back this afternoon. I was scheduled to go for my confirmation appointment/ultrasound on March 5, but she said if I am only 5 weeks, that they will probably push it back another week or two.
The good news is, she could see the yolk sac too, it was so tiny you could barely see it! So that makes me feel a lot better. It's going to be a long few weeks though, waiting to go back for my next ultrasound. At least she gave me a picture to look at (even though it just looks like a tiny olive).
