My ultrasound at 12 weeks showed my placenta was high and posterior. I was so happy because I had anterior with my daughter. My 20 week scan showed opposite information. It was low real low and on the anterior side again. I am hoping as I stretch or grow more it will move up. Anyone have a placenta that has moved?

The sonographer explained to me that once the placenta is attached it can't move within the uterus but it moves with the uterus as the uterus gets bigger. I also had a lowish anterior placenta and she said that the anterior wall of the uterus moves up more than the posterior wall, so she wasn't concerned. She explained it like drawing a dot on the bottom of a balloon, then blowing it up to see where the dot moves to. I hope this makes sense!

I've wondered this myself - there seems to be some debate on the internet as to whether the uterus actually moves above the pelvic area, or just grows up from inside it. I was going to ask my OB next week.

Thanks so much Claire for my awesome siggy
