Oh my where do I start... so I signed up for daycare on base December 11. The waiting list said 30-60 days, cool I'm not going back till March 11th. Well here I am a week out from going back to work and they have no idea how long I'll be waiting. I keep getting "the system is electronic so we don't have a waiting position attached to your name". Well I didn't have a back-up plan because I thought I'd b goo in 30-60 days. Well I checked 2 off base places... $215 PER WEEK and $190 PER WEEK!!! What??? On base it'll run me $100 a week. What am I supposed to do drain my savings? My supervisor said she'll try to work it. Worse comes to worse and I guess I'll b shoveling out $200 a week or taking more leave. I'm so frustrated. Hopefully my supervisor pulls rank on them and gets things straightened out otherwise she'll have to get my commander involved.

What are everyone else's daycare costs running?

My crazy affordable daycare fell through, so now for 4 days a week we'll be paying $140, which we lucky to find. The next place in line was $185/4 days. It's ridiculous.

Ours is $220 a week. It seems like the average rate for the good day cares in my area.

Daycare is so crazy expensive! We could never afford it so I work nights to avoid it. It sucks but to afford daycare for 2 kids id have to pick up an extra job :/

Do you have anyone that can watch him until a spot opens in base?

Around here, in home care for infants is around $200 a week, and a daycare would be closer to $250. That's a big part of the reason that my DH stays home...

In my area if you want a "good" daycare it is well over $1000/month. So I would say you got a good price for my area,,,not too sure how much the norm is in your area though.
