I'm going to lose my mind any second. I thought Alex had the flu, he was sick for a week. Not horribly so....but enough he missed 4 days of school, then one morning, he was vomiting, crying and in so much pain he urinated himself.
I ran to the ER with him and he had a really horrible strep infection that WASN'T in his throat...but ravaging his WHOLE BODY. I felt like the world's worst mother. Catscans and Xrays and a spinal puncture to make sure he didnt have meningitis...it was horrific. We eventually got home, with a crap load of antibiotics and he got dehydrated twice more where we had to go back for IV fluids.
THEN...as he got better, I caught his strep and it laid me low for 4 days (I got antibiotics right away).
THEN yesterday, my mom had chest tightness and her arm went numb so fast she dropped her coffee and it shattered all over the floor. She had shortness of breath and we had to call the ambulance. Ive spent the majority of the last two days in the hospital at her side.
The ENTIRE time she was in the hospital, all she did was complain about having to be there and all the tests they were running and how the IV hurt or how many times they drew her blood.
I HURT everywhere. I feel like I have been hit by a bus and all I want to do is cry.
Oh no. You need an entire week within someone pampering you! It is so hard to tell when a kid has just a cold or flue or something different. I know you must have been scared. Hope he fully recovered. I think it is time that you had a great 2 weeks. You deserve it definitely.
Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! Don't be too hard on yourself about your son.. it is so hard to tell and I always hate when you DO go in and the doctors just look at you like you are nuts for even being there. So I am one that waits until it is HORRIBLE to go or take someone in too!
I am also sorry you got sick and that your mom is now struggling. You need a vacation. Hugs.

My mom is home and happy to be in her own bed again. Getting the medical attention she needed right away made it so she was able to stop the heart attack before it started with nitrates. Had she not gone to the hospital, only god knows where she would be now. Shes still pissy with me for making her go in the first place.
Alex is 100% and making up for all the weight he lost from being sick (he was underweight to begin with) by attacking the kitchen like a swarm of locusts.
I am pretty much better, I just have a lingering cough.
I took a bath last night and DH rubbed my feet and put me to bed. I don't hurt everywhere today like I did yesterday but I think I will be looking into getting a nice prenatal massage when this snow clears out.
Gosh that all sounds so terrible. I'm so glad your son and mom were okay in the end though. They're lucky to have you. As someone else said don't beat yourself up about your son. Christmas of 2011 DD had the same thing. I took her to the ER FOUR times in two weeks before they FINALLY diagnosed her and gave her the proper testing and antibiotics to treat the strep. Hope you feel better soon!

I am so sorry you have been through all of this. There is no way you could have known what was really going on with your son, especially will all of the flu going on this year. I think anyone would have done the same. Glad to hear he is doing well now. And it sounds like you saved your mom's life. That is pretty amazing. I'm so sorry you ended up sick in all this, too! I hope you're back to 100% soon and able to take some time out for you.
