Very interesting but a lot of times I feel worse after reading articles like these. I see all the things we won't be doing because of finances, things our parents didn't do for us, and I wonder are all these things the article lists really necessary? Of course some are for sure, but meh, to each his own on some things.

We felt financially OK for 1, then we found out we were having 2 so the start up cost will be much more. As almost everyone tells me, you can plan and plan but you will never be 100% financially 'ready' for a baby, so true.

I don't believe they all are necessary. Some are, like writing a will, that is important because none of us know when we are going to die and we need to have some sort of plan for that, but others not so much.

I always scoff at life insurance and income protection insurance, but in Australia our superannuation covers that, so it really is just a big scam over here. I don't know about anywhere else though.

Well, DH and I have already decided that my parents are going to be our childrens' guardians. Once they get too old, then we will decide which of my sister's will get them, depending on life situation and willingness. Andrew's family aren't in the financial position to care for children.

Thank you, Jaidynsmum, for the amazing siggy

i liked the article. while we didn't do all of it right away with DS, we did eventually figure everything out finance-wise and are in a much better position this time around. the only thing we never made time for was date nights, lol!
