DH is frustrating the heck out of me. He is completely unhelpful. One night a week he takes one of the night time feedings to let me get some sleep, but that is it. Additionally, he still won't clean out the closet in the nursery so that I can finish setting up the nursery and finally have the baby sleep in there. He doesnt think its a problem for her to sleep in our room because he is a heavy sleeper so she can be sitting 2 feet from him screaming and he doesnt wake up. I am not a heavy sleeper so I don't get any sleep because she makes cooing noises for most of the night which keeps me awake. Add to that the fact that she is feeding every 2 hrs and 15 minutes and I havent slept at all in the past day and a half. I think when he gets home today I am going to tell him to clean out the closet tonight or tomorrow I am throwing everything in there away. I can't go on like this any longer.

I'm sorry DH is being unhelpful.. I am with you on the light sleeping. I could not sleep in the same room as my son. I hope you can get him motivated to do something about the nursery.

It is so hard in the beginning...They don't get it. My dh is the exact same with the sleep thing, extremely heavy sleeper, through all of the kids! I used to leave the baby in the room with him and tell him I was sleeping through the night, so I'd be on the couch! A friend of mine told me to use earplugs on those nights!!! Hang in there...It will get better!

That sounds rough. Can the baby sleep in a room other than the nursery while you wait for your DH to clean out the closet? With our first daughter I think she slept in a craddle in the living room in the very beginning. We eventually moved her to our room because that was easier for me than getting up but it sounds like you might sleep better with a little space.

Sorry Hun! My DH is being just as annoying. I've been asking him for weeks to take the boxes out of the baby's room so I can set it up and all he says is "yeah later" I'm about ready to move the **** things myself cos I'm tired of waiting!!!

I'm sorry! Honestly, I think talking to him is a good idea--tell him how frustrated you feel, and that it would help you out so much to get her nursery set up so that you can get more sleep. He may still not "get it," but at least you would have given him the chance to be the hero, so to speak. And I do hope that one way or another you can get some sleep soon. It's so tough in the beginning. I remember some nights when I got frustrated with DH because he slept right through everything. But...that phase really does go by quickly (though it may not feel like it in the moment).
