had my nt scan today. i'm 13w5d. baby is so baby looking...totally cute. hb was 165, it was eating its little hands...i saw several shots of what i 'think' it might be but didn't get a great profile/nub shot. my nt measurements were higher than i expected which makes me nervous andi've been trying to see if they get higher when you have your scan later? they were all around 2.5 except for one which was over 3mm...i'm trying not to let that worry me. i see my dr in 2 weeks and i know he will call if he sees a concern. i asked the tech if she had a gender guess, she's like oh i never even looked between the legs. by then baby was being totally uncooperative and with me not even being 14w i don't put a TON of weight into this shot between the legs but since i saw some nub type looks of what i agreed were the same, i think we're looking at another little boy. guess we'll see for sure in a few weeks!!

heres my pics.

if anyone knows more about nt measurements i'd love to hear. i've read all kinds of different things on the internet...

definitely try not to worry - I know some doctors consider 2.5 within normal, and some as high as 3.0 as a normal result, and at worst your doctor may want you to combine it with some additional bloodwork to try to reduce error % in the scan (I believe NT scan alone is only around 75-80% accurate, combined with 2 stage blood screen raises it only to about 90% accuracy).

My understanding is that the fluid they measure during the NT scan reabsorbs (so measurement declines naturally) after 14 weeks, which is why there's a narrow window for the scan itself...

ETA: you got such a great shot in that 2nd pic, i'm jealous - mine wasn't cooperating at all, so still looks kind of blob-ish despite being 13wks when we had our scan

Awww! Those are great pics!! Is the first one the between the legs shot - like sideways? If I am looking at it right I would think maybe boy too - it looks like a little something there

Mine was at 2.5 mm and I am trying not to worry as well. In any case these measurements weigh in - in combination with the blood test. Lets just wait and see and try not to stress out. Beautiful pictures there

First off great nub shot, that to me looks like a boy
Your nt measurements to me are ok, yes at the high end of normal. I have read that most nt go down as baby gets bigger?? Mine at 12 w 4 d was 6mm I am hoping it went down I guess it wouldn't matter anyways idk. I guess if dr was concerned you would of been notified??

i hope so. i read the median measurement for babies with downs is 4.99mm. some babie are fine, and some have a little extra for no reason. i did read at 13w6d up to 2.8mm is considered normal where as it is a lower threshold earlier than that...so idk how that works. maybe it doesn't start to reabsorb until after week 14 which is why it would be inaccurate then. I certainly hope if they were concerned at all they would have either asked him to come in then or at the very least flagged my stuff so he could see it asap and would contact me. i go back on the 8th for regular appt and i assume they will have my bw results and whatnot then so i will try not to worry unless i hear from him between now and then. i know its kind of arbitrary without the blood work anyway. just wish i didn't have to think about it at all. i had mine a full week earlier with my son and his was 1.8 i think.
