I am sure this is just the first of many Mommy scares I will have with this child. On Wednesday DH had to go into work for a meeting. My son went with him as he works downtown and they were going to do a couple fun things for spring break and be gone about 6 hours. DD was shopping with friends and I would be home alone with Colton for the first time for about 3 hours. Only about 30 minutes after DH left, Colton started to wake from napping. I was sitting right next to him and noticed his face was really red and he hadn't started to cry. His mouth was wide open and he had a lot of mucus. He was making a gurgly sound and seemed to really be struggling to breathe. I remembered that I had a nasal aspirator right by me and quickly started suctioning his mouth. He finally started to cry and breathe normally. He remained a little gurgly. I called the Dr and she said to watch him and keep him propped up and burp well. It may have been some reflux which she said is common first few months. I worry about my older children but forgot how terrifying it is when a baby is having trouble.

Great job mama!
I keep trying to remind myself that the stress won't end when I give birth, its only the beginning. What a scary experience.

That sounds so scary. I am glad that everything is okay and it sounds like you kept a clear mind under pressure which is great.

Definitely scary! But good for you for thinking and acting quickly. You're right...you worry about kids at every age for different reasons, but babies are so helpless and dependent on us...can definitely be frightening!
