I wanted to share a funny story with you all. I spoke to my doctor Friday morning who was at the hospital inducing a couple of his patients, and he was trying to get me to come in also. He told me they could squeeze me in that morning if I wanted, and I declined. Well he got ticked off and said "Well the only other day we would be able to do it is April the 8th because I will be gone the 5th, 6th and 7th so if you feel you can wait that long.." I kind of laughed and said I would hope I would go before then.. He got real quiet and then said, "Well ok I guess but you know this is Good Friday and with Easter coming up the hospital will essentially be closed." I nearly lost it and had to keep myself from busting out laughing! The hospital is CLOSED this weekend you guys!! LMAO! Ah this guy kills me..

You wanted to deliver without him there, right? It looks like you have a nice window coming up.

Haha yeah that's what I thought lol! I'm pretty sure what he was saying was, "some other doctor will steal my pay if you don't do this now!"

I know you'd like to be done before then, but may as well try to hold out for next weekend at this point and get a different doctor!

That's funny! Never heard that one before. Why does he want to induce anyway? You were just due.:-)

He has been saying since 36 weeks that because of my age, he didnt want me getting to 40 weeks. I said no at that time and he was insisting. At the 37th week appt he told me I tested positive for gbs so I would need the 39 week induction so I would be able to get the meds on time. I declined again and he told me my baby could die and was really pushy so I said yeah ok whatever to get him off my back, and then I called in sick that day. As long as my baby is active and my bp is good and everything feels normal, I feel induction is unnecessary. I'd rather my baby choose whether it wants to be a March or April baby on its own I may complain alot about it, but I feel like I'm doing the right thing for my little one. Honestly the only thing that does bother me is getting to the hospital on time for the IV.

While the hospital isn't closed... they run on bare bones staffing during holidays and weekends. He was probably using that point to scare you. Stupid tactics regardless!

Your OB would scare me to death trying to bully you into induction. Way to be strong and stand your ground and feel confident in the decisions you are making for your baby. I do think I might have laughed in his face when he said the hospital was closed though!!

I just happened to see this as I was browsing the forum and it made me laugh (and then get mad at how ridiculous your doctor seems!)

My father is a doctor, and he often works "holiday" weekends because we're Jewish. There are always people there, and good grief, babies come whenever THEY feel like it! Good for you for sticking up to him!
