I open all the windows then go for it. Besides that I haven't changed much besides maybe wearing gloves more frequently, and covering my mouth and nose with a bandana if using bleach. You can definitely use a lot of home stuff like vinegar, baking soda, lemon, etc, but when you want the job done fast and effectively nothing is better than the bad bleach products!
I'm pretty crunchy granola in the cleaners department. I switched most of my stuff to natural cleaners when I was pg with my first.
Baking soda and vinegar are my go-to cleaners. You could try opening your windows when you use them.
A brand I also like is Mrs. Meyers. Target sells them.

With severe asthma I cant even use the "organic" cleaners from Whole Foods. Over the last year I've had to switch all my cleaners. I dilute vinegar in a spray bottle with water. Sometimes I'll use baking soda for scrubbing. DH hates the smell of vinegar so when he's home (or if we're expecting company) I have a separate spray bottle that has water with drops of eucalyptus oil, since essential oils contain antiseptic properties and the majority of essential oils are also bactericidal. If an area really needs scouring I use Bon Ami scrub.
I use a scrub brush and a spray bottle of bleach. That way I don't have to touch the chemicals. I also use gloves and open all the doors/windows in the room. I have an exhaust fan in my bathroom that helps with ventilation also.

We've been using diluted vinegar, lemon, and baking soda for years now. The vinegar smell isn't strong if you dilute it and especially if you infuse it with lemon or oranges. The smell goes away quickly and takes bad odors with it. With two kids and a dog, I really like that I know I'm killing the germs, taking care of weird smells, and I don't have to worry about who is going to eat off of what surface or walk on the floors I just mopped.

Thank You, Pattyandthemoos, for my beautiful siggy!
I use vinegar on my hardwood floors, but honestly most of the time I use clorox wipes in the bathroom. I have to clean the sink and toilet everyday with 3 boys using it constantly so I have a huge container of wipes in my bathroom. I mostly use the magic eraser in my shower though. It works better than anything else I have used and if you wear gloves I don't see how you would be exposed to any chemicals because it has no smell.
