We are very sure that we are done at 3 but we are young (I will be 25 and DH will be 24 when this little one is born). So I do not think we are going to be making any permanent decisions anytime soon. Maybe in a few years we will be able to say for certainly that our family is complete but we are not quiet there yet.

Miscarriage 01/28/09
DS #2 9/10
chemical pregnancy 06/12
DD #1 06/13
Due 02/29 with DD #2

I'm 100% not getting my tubes tied, lol. When we're sure we're done DH *will* be getting a vasectomy.

I would recommend that unless you are getting a c-section to NOT get your tubes tied because the surgery and potential complications are much more severe for a woman than a vasectomy is for a man. Not to mention the recovery time.

Plus, if you do decide to have more kids (it happens!) it is cheaper/easier to get the vasectomy reversed.

I know you're saying "one and done" but, honestly, I would more seriously consider getting Implanon or Mirena (or something similar). They're almost 100% effective and insurance covers them. And if you continue to not want children when the implants are used up you just get a new one put in.

Right now for us we know we want a bigger gap between this new LO and the third one (if there will be a third one, lol). It broke my heart to end my breastfeeding relationship with my son at only 17 months (I was shooting for 2 years) and it was horrible to be so out of it and exhausted when all he wanted was to cuddle and play. This means we have to think really hard about birth control options and I just have no idea what to do. Hormonal birth control (even the Mirena) just does not agree with me for some reason. I get very exhausted, crampy, etc. Don't know yet what to do :S

'Scuse the bad typing, please. 'Breast is Best' but not when browsing the internet!

I am sure that we are done. I have my two older girls from my first marriage and then my 19 month old son and this baby with my current husband. Plus I'm in my thirties now and personally want to be passed the diaper stage of my life in the next few years so that my husband and I can enjoy one another as adults again while watching our kids grow up. I was originally scheduled to have a tubal during my c-section but I have since decided to decline. With my history of severe endo I think it'd be a bad idea to introduce scar tissue into that area of my body. I fear it will be magnet for endo growths and therefore be a reason for getting even more surgery in the future. My husband has been really resistant to the idea of the big V when it's come up but I think in the end he'll do it. I don't do hormonal birth control (especially while nursing) and I am not a good candidate for IUDs so it's either he get the big V or we use condoms for the rest of our lives which neither of us would enjoy.
