Wow, Anitha. Your MIL sounds like a piece of work!
Lol she is ok for the most part...but with this name this she just wouldn't let it rest! I don't know what it is with DH's family - they feel like the entire family has a say in the baby's name. My BIL (DH's brother) had a son and my SIL's husband was calling us asking us for our input for the baby's name!! WTH?? Why would we have an input and for that matter why would you? its not even your baby aaaah!
You know she's right - I mean what business do you have using a foreign name? You'd do best to choose a nice, wholesome *American* name.
...too bad no such thing exists. ... unless you want to use something Navajo or Cherokee, but then you'll be accused of appropriation.
Some people, I swear. It's 2013 in the US of A! If a person wants to name their child after an obscure species of cephalopod, it's fully within their rights to do so and everyone else should mind their beeswax. ... them's just my feelings on it.
(And for the record I was being fully sarcastic back at the beginning of this comment. ... and not that it matters but I think the OP's name choice is lovely)
This is why we don't discuss names with anyone but each other whilst pregnant. We've never had to worry about what anyone thinks, because there are not many people that will make comment about not liking a baby's name to your face after they are born
