We're flying on Monday from one major airport to another, so even though they're supposed to start taking down the full body scanners this month, I'm sure they'll still be at those airports until the last minute. My question, has anyone gone through the scanners while pregnant?? On their website it says they are safe for pregnant women, but there is so much conflicting information on different articles and such. I'm afraid they're going to try to bully me into the screening if I opt for the pat down.

I just came back from a flight, had it done going there and coming back. Its 3 seconds long, and they said it has no effect on pregnancy. Im leaving again in a couple of weeks, Im not worried about it.

You might have a choice of which you want to do. Last time I flew, the airport that had the full body scanners had one line for those and a different line for the regular detector and pat-down. I was pregnant then and glad I had the option because I didn't want to go through the scanner. Just personal preference.

You have z choice. They say it has no effect and I'm sure it probably doesn't but if you don't feel comfortable with it, you can tell them and they'll give ya a nice lil rub down instead.

Thanks for your input, guys. I'll probably decide last minute when I get there.

If the TSA guy is cute, go for the rub down

I would imagine that the scanners are similar to u/s, so I wouldn't think there would be a problem with it. Probably not something you'd want to do multiple times a day thru the whole pregnancy, but here or there doesn't seem like it would be a problem.
