A close friend of mine is going through a tough time. It is hard for me to not be able to do anything for her. We have been friends since 4th grade. She has struggled with anxiety since high school and had to go on anxiety medication to be able to cope several years ago. She has also seen therapists to try and deal with some of it. She and her husband are at the point that they are ready to have a baby and she desperately wanted to do her pregnancy without meds. She saw several medical professionals, went off of her medication under supervision, really struggled with physiological effects from that, leveled out, and then then some minor things happened and her anxiety was out of control. Doctors have advised her to go back on her meds and that they will likely not have a significant impact on a baby. She is pretty discouraged because she feels like she has failed. She is back on her meds, but has to wait until her anxiety is under control for a while before they TTC. She is just having a hard time with not being able to do it med free. I assured her that the best thing she can do for a baby is to be healthy herself. And reminded her that her doctors said that everything should be fine. And she really did try. She really wanted to get pregnant now and having to wait to even try makes it all harder. Please pray for her that her anxiety will level out soon, that she will not feel guilty for taking care of herself, and that they will be able to get pregnant quickly once they can start trying.
Prayers for your friend. I have two anxiety disorders and I know firsthand how miserable it can be to be unable to take medication for it. I hope that she can get things under control enough to be able to make it through pregnancy with as little medication as possible.
