I had my first appt last Friday, where they did a pap smear. I ddnt hear anything all week so I assumed greaaat everything is good. She called me today and said it came back abnormal with HPV. She said my doctor will check into it further at the next appoitment. UGHHH!!! Anyone else had this happen to them? She said it happens a lot in pregnant women, and when they check after baby is born its nomal again.
I had an abnormal after my second baby. I had to have a colposcopy with biopsy which came back fine and I was supposed to be having paps every 6 months and was due for a repap when I got my BFP. I am not sure if my doctor will do a pap now or wait until after birth because being high risk I think we will probably wait.
I've never had a normal pap -- mine are all abnormal because of HPV (the only normal one I had was after my son was born but it went right back to abnormal). They can't do anything about it right now. They will most likely retest you at 6 weeks PP.
I had the same with my pap when I was pregnant DD. my doctor wouldn't do any procedures until after delivery. At 6 weeks pp I had a leep. She was able to get all the abnormal cells and I have regular paps now and they've all been normal.
Yeah she said that he doesn't normally like to do the coloscopy while pregnant because of risks of bleeding and such. But she told me that she is going to tell the office to note at my U/S appt to make me an appointment for the coloscopy. So I'm kind of confused, but she said she had talked to my doctor about it already. She did say he would repeat it anyway after the baby was born. I don't know, I would rather not have it done now.
