Cluster feeding is when baby wants to nurse what seems like every 30 seconds. You will feed put the baby down and the baby will want to eat again shortly after. This is done in the beginning of life to help your body produce an adequate milk supply, once the supply is established he/she will go back to a pattern of about every 2/3 hours until a growth spurt then during a growth spurt they begin to cluster feed again. It usually lasts a day or two.

Hell on earth, lol. It happened to us only in that first week and then never again. Constant nursing and a lot of tears. Totally normal.

It typically starts around day 2-3 but gets fewer and further between as baby grows. A lot of new moms automatically assume that they are not producing enough milk if baby seems hungry so soon after nursing. This is not always the case. If baby is producing plenty of wet and dirty diapers and gaining weight, then you are doing just fine. The first few weeks with my second, I just decided to resign myself to the couch to nurse constantly. My mother (who did not breastfeed) and my MIL who is a nurse and should know better tried to convince me that a baby never eats that often. Well, they can and some do. If you are educated upfront, then the reality is much easier to deal with once it hits.

Yeah, I totally thought it was because I wasn't producing enough. So not true, lol.
