I am looking to get Ellianna an heirloom gown that she can hand down to her children (if she wants). I went to Buy Buy Baby and did not really find anything that hit me. I saw some really pretty ones - just not that "perfect" one. I am looking for something a little old fashioned with lace and long. Not many stores seems to carry them. Saw some online but have no experience with the sites. Anyone order one online and have a really good experience?

Do you know anyone who can sew? Or look on Etsy or a similar site?

I would recommend Etsy as well. I am pretty picky about gowns too, so I made Abri's myself. We used DH's gown that my MIL made for Lily, and I plan on making a different one for this baby.

With DD we lived in a town that was well almost entirely Mormon so finding a christening gown was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I do know that Sears and Herbergers(if ya even have one of those nearby) sells them. We however ended up going to a bridal shop and buying a flower girl dress in 12 month size. DD was baptised when she was 5 months as there was no way any family from out of state could have made it thru the mountain passes in winter lol. Anyway the dress looked absolutely gorgeous on her and we had all the old ladies oohing and aahing over her dress. and the 12 month size really only made it long on her. So if you aren't handy at sewing you could check local bridal shops.

Thanks - I will certainly go onto the Etsy. I like the idea of the bridal shop - although Ellianna is getting Christened in July - so she will be really tiny. I cannot sew a button on a shirt - so definitely no sewing here.

Do you have any catholic stores? We have a place called the St. Jude shop and it has store made and hand made gowns of all different types. It is really cool but a little on the expensive side. We got JD's (my first sons) tux at sears for his baptism we will try to use it again for Jack or perhaps get a new one depending on how big Jack gets by August.
