Amazon gives me recommendations for my pack and play to get a fitted crib sheet, mattress cover, and mattress for the pack and play I registered for. But, is the mattress really necessary? I would think the bassinet would already be set!

If I order this:

Amazon.com: Graco Pack 'n Play On the Go Travel Playard, Go Green: Baby

What else do I put on the registry? I have a fitted pack and play sheet checked but nothing else so far.

I never bought a PnP mattress, but I made my own out of one of the egg crate mattresses from Walmart, folded it up to be really soft. The extra cushion is necessary for mine. Winter wasn't sleeping well without it. By the time I had her in the PnP she was sitting up and rolling so I didn't worry about suffocation. Your baby may not care at all to have the standard bottom to sleep on. I guess my little princess is a delicate flower or something.

EDIT: Wanted to add that we are using this PnP in lieu of a crib. Around 18 months she'll be going into the tent. Alice had this tent the exact size of a toddler mattress. It's on the floor with toddler mattress inside. That will be Winter's new bed when she outgrows the PnP. When we travel we just cosleep.

I used nothing with our pack and play but a blanket. I've never used a fitted sheet in the p n play or used a mattress to go with it...he sleeps fine in it to this day!

I thought the whole point of the pack n play was portability? I used mine at the pool and the only extra item I bought was the bug net to go over the top. Can you still fold it up with an extra mattress?

All I ever used with my PnP was fitted sheets. My son slept in his PnP every night for 6 months and never worried about a mattress.

We just bought the pack n play and fitted cover. My SIL with the 4 little ones said that's all we needed. If you got all that other stuff it defeats the purpose of having a portable thing for your baby to sleep in, like you're gonna haul a mattress on a trip? They're just trying to make more money by getting you to buy that extra stuff, IMO.

Thanks!! I will stick with what I've registered for (who can resist silly monkey sheets?) but not add anything extra. Amazon was trying to trick me

Yeah, we just always bought the sheets so you can wash those, but never the extra mattress.

Our favorite pack n play sheets with DD were the thicker quilted ones. They sell them at BRU and Anazon.
I have 2 of those bought for baby boy, then a few cheapie regular sheets leftover from my big kids (in case of puke or poop middle of the night issues, lol).

I never thought of buying an extra mattress. I just bought some extra sheets just in case.
