I've already put in a call to my OB and I'm just wondering, since I can't find much on Google - any moms experience an extremely sharp, wicked, stabbing pain at the bottom of your sternum? (right where the ribs start to meet, around the xyphoid process specifically) I have gallbladder issues, which I can recognize the symptoms of, but I haven't felt this before. It's wicked evil terrible suck my breath away pain. While I'm waiting for my OB to call back... any moms have to deal with this before?

I was going to say gallbladder. When mine first started hurting it was a dull achy feeling, I use to describe it as I felt like I was a pumpkin and my insides were being scraped out. I went like that for a year and my dr kept telling me it was gas but one night I woke up in so much pain my husband didn't believe me so I drove myself to the hospital and was screaming in pain, I couldn't even sit still it hurt so bad, they did an u/s and it was gallstones. When I had it taken out a few weeks later I had over 30 stones! It can happen while pregnant and after, I think those are prime times.

After my daughter (10) was born I had these pains in the same area. It was soo long ago that I can't remember what they diagnosed me with. I ended up getting physical therapy to help the area heal. If I laid on my side my chest wall would get stuck and it was horrible. I'll research it and find out the name. They did check a whole lot of other stuff first, then just chalked it up to this. Gosh I'm old I should remember this....

It was called costochondritis. They thought it was caused by my pregnancy or the one time she kicked me in my ribs.

I was going to suggest costochondritis too. It's so unbelievably painful, but I remember the pain moving around my chest too. I get really painful gas pains in that area too!!

Good luck, hope it's nothing serious. KUP!
