Anyone still having perineal pain and swelling 4 weeks pp? I used a heating pad (low) again last night. If I do any exertion, I have swelling. I had this during pg, and was told it was because of a baby pressing on the area. There better not be another baby in there I really hate this though. Ellianna is finally sleeping somewhere other than my arms. I want to use the time to clean the house. When I do anything though, I get swelling and pain on a level of 5 out of 10 (with 600 mg of ibuprofen). I don't have my doc appointment until July 17 - hoping this is normal and will end really soon. I only had 2 stitches.

I'm not part of this DDC but wanted to share my experience.

I found that if I was on my feet too much, I would also have perineal pain. I ended up also unknowingly retaining a piece of placenta that didn't pass for a few weeks after the birth. After that passed, the perineal pain improved greatly.

I did find that I needed to try to take it easy though (which is difficult when you're a bust mom!) I had mild perineal issues for about 6 months after birth. My OB explained that because I was breastfeeding and there was a lack of estrogen in my body, that it can sometimes take longer for that area to heal.

Good luck and I hope your pain improves soon.
Thank-you Bokkechick for the beautiful siggy!
