First of all, stay away from Crave Brother's Farmstead cheese! CDC - Outbreaks Involving Listeriosis - Listeriosis

So my sister brought up a good point to me, we can't eat Deli meat because of listria concerns, but according to the CDC that last two (now 3) outbreaks of listeria in the US came from cantaloup, pasteurized ricotta cheese, and this lastest one is also related to cheese. Why aren't they warning us to stay away from pasteurized cheese? Seems like we're safer eating deli meat then we are cheese (even though I love cheese!).

Yikes I am eating cheese and cantaloup and cheese pretty much every day. I do scrub my melons with soap and a brush before I cut them though. Thanks for the heads up..

Same way that a lot of recent e coli outbreaks have come from vegetables (probably contaminated by animals upstream). I've definitely eaten deli meat a few times this pregnancy, like yesterday.

Ever since that outbreak involving cantaloupe awhile ago I've been scared to eat it...I miss it.

I have eaten quite a bit of cheese, deli meat and different melons. Yikes, kind of scary stuff. I do always heat my deli meat and cheese though. I like hot meat, toasted bread and melted cheese on my sandwiches. I can't imagine a hot melon though.....yuck!!
