My pp bleeding stopped for about a week/week and half. Well yesterday I had period like bleeding and today it's a bit heavier with cramps to accompany. Blah. Could this be AF returning? I am only 5 weeks pp and breastfeeding

It could be AF. But they usually say any bleeding before 6 weeks PP is just PP bleeding. You probably didn't ovulate. But it could mean your cycle is trying to return. Not all moms experience a delayed return of fertility when BFing. Especially if you are just doing regular BFing, pumping, not bedsharing, etc, and not the "ecological BFing" where baby is on you all day and night - that 24/7 physical contact is apparently far more associated with delayed return of fertility.

I'd make sure you have a solid birth control method unless you want irish twins!!

I have no advice or knowledge, but I just wanted to sympathize. AF started for me yesterday after 2 days of god awful cramps. I certainly did not miss AF the last 10 months!

Hugs I have no advice as AF didn't return for me for 9 months while I bf and pumped with Hailey.

AF started for me 1 day shy of 6 weeks. I went to my PP checkup and my dr was able to tell from the consistency. I BF, cosleep, and babywear and it didn't hold it off.

It could still be PP bleeding, a couple weeks back i thought my PP bleeding was done since I hadn't bled in days and boom one day it started again for a couple more days, I didn't have cramps though.

I'm thinking mine is coming back, too. I have been having low back achiness the last couple of days...my classic PMS symptom. It sucks! I was hoping to keep it away longer, but no go I guess.

I haven't had any clots, just constant flow. Cramps come and go and bleeding is mild to heavy from morning to late afternoon to nothing at night

Usually before 6 weeks it's still considered post partum bleeding. I guess I'm lucky in that regard. I haven't had a true AF since Oct 2010. Af hadn't returned when I found out I was pg with Jocelyn. I was ebf my 17mth old. My other kids, AF was really irregular while nursing. I would go 5 months with nothing.

Dr confirmed it was af...said I must really be fertile lol but that I may not get af again until after breastfeeding or when it slows down but I'm pumping and breastfeeding.
Oh these cramps are miserable today. Dr said take 800mg Motrin 2x a day for 3 days should help ease or slow it down

I ebf and af returned as soon as I returned back to work at about 4 months. I had to pump while at work. And he still didn't really like the bottle. Some days he had about 2-4 oz from a whole 9 hour day away from me. I bled a tiny bit that was just on the tissue none was on my undies. That was just one day which confused me. Than a few weeks later there she was.
