Earlier today our fridge start making a really loud death rattle and it has been going mostly continuously since then. I'm trying to get a Sears guy out here tomorrow, but it looks like it could be a bad compressor. It is a really old fridge, so it probably isn't worth it to replace the compressor (~$500) if we need to. I'll have to see what he says, but I'm not sure what to do. The space is really small and I don't want to spend a lot on something we will want to replace in a few years, but realistically we probably won't get around to doing new cabinets for 10 years since we need to save for another bedroom first. I just want to take our saws-all and hack out a bigger space for a new fridge, but my husband isn't down with that. Anyone have good small fridges they like?

There are a lot of cheap used fridges on Craigslist, but most of them probably don't work in the space and it would involve driving several hours and hauling the fridge around ourselves.

Is there Ikea close by? I've never really decked them out for appliances, but they usually cater to small places so maybe they'd have something compact.

I forget what size it is, but it's just a little smaller with the freezer on top. Just take a look for slightly smaller fridges that aren't stainless steel as that costs more.
