We had Guy's ultrasound today. They really couldn't find much of a left kidney at all. They think there is an adrenal gland on the left, or maybe a very small deformed kidney. There was no blood flow to whatever was there though. The right kidney is measuring large (probably because it is taking on the function of the absent left kidney). She thinks maybe there were two ureters on the right kidney though, which may be a problem. After birth Guy is to have a renal ultrasound done and then we will be referred to a larger hospital to meet with a pediatric urologist/nephrologist for further testing and to see where we go from there. The doctor made sure to look very closely at Guy's heart as a lot of kidney malformations that are genetic have heart complications too. His heart, thankfully, was perfect She said this is just another fluke, like what happened with my first son - weird

Anyway, Guy is measuring at 5lbs 9oz right now and my fluid level looked good. She said that his bladder was full so that is a good sign for kidney function He was precious to see on u/s. He stuck his tongue out at us a few times lol!! I can not wait to hold him!!!

If it makes you feel any better my right kidney never formed and I'm healthy as a heavily pregnant horse! The left one is a lot bigger (apparently the size of an overweight person's) to compensate and the ONLY reason we even know that is because at an ultrasound a few years ago for ovarian cysts they couldn't find it! Hopefully your little one doesn't end up getting any extra problems and gets it lucky like I did
