Okay, I know that the baby is going to have to come out eventually, and will need room in my hips/pelvis to do so, but...

DO YOU HAVE TO BREAK MY HIPS IN THE PROCESS???

Yesterday at my doctor appointment, I was sitting on the table like usual. She asked me to lay down so she could measure and whatnot. As I laid down, I left my legs dangling over the table for a minute because she hadn't pulled the tray thing out yet for me to prop them on. The left side of my hip (in my lower back area) got this crazy sharp stabbing pain in it, and it felt like my hip wasn't "laying down" with me, if that makes sense. Like I could feel that my right side was even with the table and the left side of my hip was still kind of up in the air and not touching the table.

Ever since then, I am having crazy bad pain in my hip, if I lay down on my back it about kills me, and I walk with a limp half the time! Sometimes it doesn't bother me too much but then it comes back with a vengeance and I about fall over. It also hurts super bad to try to bend over to pick anything up.

Is this sciatic nerve pain?

The only time I have ever had pain in this joint (never this bad though) is if my back/hips need popped, in which case I usually just lean forward, put my hands behind my knees, and pull a little bit to relieve the pressure in my back, and then my back pops and I feel better. That is totally not working today!!

Youch!

Since your hips and all start to relax more in order to spread for birth it seems like you can kinda have things go out of place easy and pinch. Can you see a chiropractor at all? I know for some that helps a lot.

Ouch, that does sound painful. I haven't had that happen. I just get general hip pain when I sit or lay in one position for too long.
I hope yours will ease up some. Did you tell your OB about it yesterday?

If it was in your back I'd say sciatic pain, but not sure since it's your hip. I've never had hip pain, only lower back pain and groin soreness/pressure. Must be the increase in relax in causing pain and also weakness of your hips. I've heard of a lot of ftms having hip pain.

I had horrible hip pain for a few days a couple weeks ago. It turns out Little Man had positioned his fist on a nerve and kept it there those few days. We massaged it like crazy and he eventually moved his fist and the pain went away instantly, I was honestly walking around like a 90 year old man those few days.

My midwife said if the pain didn't go away to try a chiropractor, which I am honestly about to do anyway just get ready for the birth.

I've had a lot of hip pain, though not sure if exactly like yours. I did see a chiropractor earlier in the pregnancy and I'd definitely recommend if the pain continues. Heat may help loosen it up too. I sometimes try different stretches as well.

My sciatic pain was in my butt if that helps.
But maybe take a bath? Sometimes that helped, but I will warn you...sometimes I couldn't get out by myself after wards.
I would sleep on the side thats not hurting, unless that seems to make it worse, then sleep on the side that is hurting to jiggle him out of position?

When I was with the twins I had sciatica. It was in my butt and down to my foot. True sciatica goes all the way to your ankle, I think. It hurt me to lay on my back, and it also hurt to try and lift up my leg for steps. Oh, and if I got on the floor it would take me a good 5 minutes to get back to standing. I had it on both sides, but people seem to feel it more often on their left. This time I sometimes get it twinging on my right butt cheek.

The only thing that seems to help is stuff like Ibuprofen, but of course we can't take it!

It sounds like sciatica or some type of nerve pain. Ouch!! I don't have any advice except a hot bath or shower and then trying to stay off it as much as possible.

Thanks ladies for all your advice - whatever it was, it must have been some sort of nerve pain because it seems to have gone away for the most part. I did notice that my lower back popped on its own yesterday and I haven't felt the pain since then, so I must have just had a pinched nerve in my lower left back that was causing the pain?

Probably just a joint moved wrong or a nerve being compressed. Popping my hips or stretching my hips makes it vanish this go. Glad you feel better!
