So this being my 3rd baby, and knowing how fast they can grow out of things (or like my ODD, never even wore some of her stuff, she had so many clothes!) I am all about buying gently used clothes rather than new, aside from special boutique outfits for holidays, photosessions, special events, etc. I am on several FB kids resale groups where local Moms can buy and sell clothes, baby gear, etc.

This past weekend one of them posted she was having a garage sale, so DF & I checked it out. Her daughter was born Nov 11 so she was just the right season. We got there early and I am so glad we did bc we cleaned her out and just as we finished it started getting crowded. We scored so many adorable outfits, sleepers and gowns. The clothes were all Carters, Gymboree, TCP, and even some boutique outfits/diaper covers that I know she paid top dollar for. We took almost the entire lot because it was all $1- 3$ per outfit. We also grabbed a fisher price kick and play gym, 2 slings, (including the exact peanut shell sling that I was looking for which retails for $50.00). She gave us all of the clothes for $20 (we should have paid $57, I was adding it up) and another $10 for the rest of the items. I went through everything this morning, and realized this baby is literally set for clothes from NB-12 months and we haven't even had our shower yet! Since we budgeted way more than we spent, I can throw that towards a cloth diaper stash and the outfits I want from etsy. I am so excited! I love shopping resales! Most of this stuff looks like it was never worn, some even new with tags. We also got her bassinett for $25.00 at a resale earlier this summer, it is in excellent condition and probably goes for $125 new. Now the consignment shops are clearancing the summer stuff for next to nothing, I will probably hit up some of those places too because I can never pass up a good deal. Anyone else love bargain shopping as much as I do?

I love it idea of bargain shopping but I can never find a successful garage sale or any resale groups. My Chicago resale group on fb sucks, and most of the resale shops in my area do to. I just kinda gave up and try to shop using coupons..I guess, If I'm going to be successful at it, I need to try a little harder lol!

I love the resale groups on FB but you have to be quick- once a great deal is posted it doesn't usually last long. Also has to be worth the drive, I am not driving 20 miles for a single $3 outfit no matter how cute it is! Also I love going to big sales where people pay for a table and there is some sort of admission fee but you get so much more variety with all those different sellers under one roof. Garage sales are hit or miss but worth checking out if you get there early- I especially love going to multifamily garage sales in the more affluent suburbs. They are almost always willing to negotiate just to get rid of stuff. I got my bassinett for $10 off what she was asking. I would have paid $35 for it, but it didn't hurt to ask and she went for it!

I got a ton of newborn and 3 month clothes for cheap second hand. I also made some cute outfits out of leftover scraps from my girls things. They are my favorite, but baby clothes take so long to make and are labor intensive for clothing outgrown so quickly.

I LOVE to bargain shop...I think that's pretty much the only kind of shopping I do...especially for kiddo stuff.

What a great score!

I also have not had luck finding second hand stuff in my area. We have a Once Upon a Child store and the couple of times I have gone in there, the stuff is pretty old/worn looking and it usually MORE expensive than just buying things on clearance at Kohl's, Target, etc.

And the Goodwills around me don't carry anything in infant or toddler sizes.

What?! How weird! All of the Goodwills around me get all of Target's clearance leftovers and returns + what people donate BUT it's not sorted by size so it's very time consuming. >_>

I love bargains too but I've been having a bit of a hard timing scoring clothing wise this summer. None of the people selling around me seem to have my taste or are asking too much $ for 2nd hand clothes. However there's a giant consignment sale coming up in September so I'm hoping to get a bunch of stuff then but I won't be able to go until the 3rd day. :-/

Also it seems like more garage sales start on Thursdays and I'm working! Boo!

Congrats on your sale success!!!

Working on baking baby #3!
