A friendly public service announcement to those who are pumping:

I have been blessed with an ample supply of milk. I pump twice during a nine hour workday (once around lunchtime and a second time on my way home). I nurse twice in the morning and 2 or 3 times in the evening. Morgan sleeps all night and I rarely pump during the night. I only need to pump twice to get what she needs for a day. Yesterday I pumped around lunchtime and barely pumped anything. I went from pumping 4-5 ounces on each side to pumping about 3 ounces total. I was freaking out that my supply is suffering. I Googled and Googled last night, freaking myself out even more. I stumbled on a forum thread relating to my pump (Ameda Purely Yours) and a bunch of people were saying that replacing the valves on their pump made a world of difference. I don't remember reading anything about replacing those parts in the manual, but I happened to have extras so I changed them. What a world of difference. I'm pumping my normal amount.

The moral of the story: change valves or other fragile parts regularly. It really does matter.

Ah, yes! I've run into this several times. You also always want to make sure your tubes are all the way in.

Wow! Super jealous of your pumping schedule. I have serious supply, but I have to pump a lot to get it all. I can store 15-20 oz a day beyond what she eats, but I have to pump a bunch to get it. I also can't go that many hours without pumping. After about 3 hours, I HURT if I haven't pumped. Even if I feed her, she doesn't totally empty me and I need to pump to get it all out. I wish I could pump just twice during my work day and still function. I also don't seem to get more output if I wait longer to pump. I might get a little bit more, but not anything proportionate. I so wish I could do your schedule...

I got engorged very quickly early on but that seems to have worked itself out. Depending on how much DD nurses before bed I sometimes wake up around 2 or 3 and need to pump but that doesn't happen as much as it used to. I experienced my first plugged duct this afternoon so I pumped extra to clear it out. That hurt!
