Baby A (girl) is measuring 2lbs. 11oz with heart rate of 150 and Baby B (boy) is measuring 3lbs 7oz. with heart rate of 138. The girl is breech and the boy is head down. I thought she flipped yesterday and was right...she better flip back down if I want to avoid a c/s. All in all, everything looked good with each of them.

There is a size discordance between the twins of greater than 20% (22%), which the MFM doc said is generally cause for concern. They like to see it under 20%. After the tech did my scan he came in and scanned me a bit too. He said usually when one twin is that much bigger than the other, the smaller one is really small and there is usually some kind of issue like TTTS, IUGR or one getting more nutrients than the other. That is not the case for me. He also said that gestational diabetes can also sometimes cause larger babies, but that is also not my issue because my test came back normal. Both are above average. He thinks mine are just bigger babies in general, both of them, but the boy more so than the girl. He looking at them alone, and not as twins, they are both "normal". Whew. He told me I just have some big babies and I am going to be feeling pretty uncomfortable from now on. Gee, thanks.

So..pretty much I have the equivalent of about a small, 6lb. newborn in me. I suppose I can expect to at least double that by the time they are born. EEEK!

I have an appt. with the OB in one week. We'll see what she has to say about everything then. Curious to know what the plan of action from here on out is....

Sounds like an informative appt to me and glad all is well and hope the baby flips back down for you. I can only imagine the discomfort you are feeling.

I think you are too kind. Kind people give the people around them a hard time. You can't express yourself honestly, because you are worried about hurting other people's feelings, and that makes you miserable.~"Winter Sonata"

They had me worried too! I thought maybe the tech saw something wrong earlier. When the doc came in he wanted to do the ultrasound, which he has never done at any of my appointments before yet. He'd just review what the tech already did and say everything looked good. So I was worried! But fortunately, he explained things better and said it wasn't really anything to worry about in my case and laughed that I'm just going to be really big and uncomfortable til the end.

YAY for good appointments Sounds like a 6# baby with 4 arms and 4 legs. I can't imagine all the commotion you feel sometimes

I can't remember specifics, but don't they kind of consider twin pregnancys' 37 weeks to be like a singleton's 40 weeks? I wonder how early some of you twin mamas will go, then?

Hat's off to Vicki for my cute siggy, thank you!

Yep, 37 weeks is like the same as 40 weeks for single babies. According to the March of Dimes, the average twin pregnancy is 35 weeks.

With No. 1 I was 37w5d. With No. 2 I was 39w4d. I am suspecting I'll go around 35 weeks. Midwife and OB both guess 35 to 37 weeks. I pray not 37 weeks because these babies are NOT slowing down growing...and my son born during that gestation was 7lbs14oz. My daughter was 7lbs13oz at 39+weeks. 15 pounds of baby just sounds soooo uncomfortable. I might have to start begging for them to do a membrane sweep or break my water at 36 weeks...LOL.
